3,5-Dimethylisoxazole is a chlorine atom that is found in the nucleotide base cytosine. It has been shown to be carcinogenic in animals and humans. 3,5-Dimethylisoxazole has been studied for its antiproliferation activity against cancer cells. This chlorine atom can inhibit the growth of cancer cells by interfering with the production of fatty acids that are important for cell division. 3,5-Dimethylisoxazole may also have insulin sensitizing effects, which may help diabetic patients.
