The reaction mechanism is based on the competitive inhibition of TFA, which is an important enzyme in DNA synthesis. 9-Deazaguanine inhibits the growth of k562 cells by inhibiting protein synthesis at specific sites in the ribosome. 9-Deazaguanine also shows inhibitory properties against autoimmune diseases and infectious diseases because it inhibits immune system reactions that are mediated by antibodies and T cells.
