This drug can cause leukemia cells to grow more slowly when it interacts with myeloid leukemia cells and prevents them from dividing. The chlorine atom present in this molecule is responsible for its ability to bind to amines. Molecular docking analysis has shown that 2,4-dichloro-5-nitropyrimidine can bind to EGF receptor sites on the surface of tumor cells, thereby inhibiting their growth.
