2,4-Dichloro-6-methylpyrimidine (2,4-DCMP) is a chemical compound that can be produced through a cross-coupling reaction of an amine and a thioether. It has been used as an intermediate for other compounds, such as luminescent compounds. 2,4-DCMP is also an antibacterial agent that has shown activity against tobacco mosaic virus and various bacteria. The chemical property of 2,4-DCMP is its ability to dissociate in solvents. This property can be used to separate the product from the solvent after the reaction. The reaction time of 2,4-DCMP is dependent on the protonation of phosphorus oxychloride and the temperature at which it is heated.
