3,5-Dichloro-4-fluorobenzotrifluoride is a fluorinated derivative of 3,5-dichloro-4-hydroxybenzotrifluoride. It is an iodinated probe that is used to label high affinity gaba receptors. The specific activity of 3,5-Dichloro-4-fluorobenzotrifluoride is very high in comparison to ethyl acetate, and it has been shown to be selective for the gaba receptor. The chemical structure of 3,5-Dichloro-4-fluorobenzotrifluoride can be modified by lithiation or pyrazole to form the corresponding 3,5-dichloro - 4 - fluoro derivative. These derivatives are also selective for the gaba receptor.
