1,3-Dinitro-2-chloro-5-trifluoromethylbenzene (1,3-DCB) is a pharmacological treatment for autoimmune diseases. It is a hydrogen donor that reacts with amines to form a bond. Its antimicrobial activity has been attributed to the membrane channel effect and interaction with hydrogen bonds. 1,3-DCB is used in analytical methods such as tissue culture and monoclonal antibody production. The drug's matrix effect allows it to be used in the treatment of leishmaniasis, which causes fever and anemia in patients. This drug is also used as an additive for polymers or plastics to improve their mechanical properties.
