2-Dodecenedioic acid (2DD) is a fatty acid that is synthesized by hydrogenation of oleic acid. 2DD has been shown to be effective in preventing inflammation in animal models of bowel disease and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as in reducing the risk of colon cancer. 2DD has also been shown to inhibit the binding of the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which may be related to its anti-inflammatory properties. The chemical diversity and abundance of 2DD makes it an excellent candidate for drug development. 2DD can be used as a pharmaceutical ingredient or polymerase chain reaction substrate.
