2,5-Dimethoxytoluene is an organic compound that belongs to the group of dihedral compounds. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet odor, boiling point of 110°C, and melting point of -18°C. 2,5-Dimethoxytoluene is used in the production of nitric acid and ammonium nitrate by electrolysis. It is also used as a solvent for cellulose esters and in perfumes.
2,5-Dimethoxytoluene has been shown to be an optimal extractant for volatile compounds such as anethole. This extractant can be used in microextraction experiments by using acetonitrile as the extracting solvent.
