Descripción:4,4'-Dihydroxybiphenyl is a chemical compound that has been found to have bacterial inhibitory properties. This compound is stable in aqueous solutions and other polar solvents. 4,4'-Dihydroxybiphenyl inhibits bacterial growth by hydrogen bonding with the enzyme's active site. It has been shown to be effective against camp levels and fatty acid production in some bacteria. 4,4'-Dihydroxybiphenyl may also disrupt the biosynthesis of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is an important precursor for the formation of DNA and RNA. The biological properties of this compound are still being studied.
