It also blocks the protease activity of leishmania, which is a parasite that causes cutaneous leishmaniasis. This drug binds to proteases and inhibits their activity by competing with substrates for the active site. Decanoyl-Arg-Val-Arg-Lys-chloromethylketone is not expressed in the submandibular gland or the submaxillary gland, which are salivary glands.
