• Descripción: The diazonium salt is a chemical compound that contains the diazonium group, -N=N-2. The diazonium salt reacts with malonic acid to form a diazo compound. The nitrogens in the diazonium salt are electron-rich and can be reduced to amines by hydrogenation. The amines produced by this reaction have been shown to be carcinogenic in rats. This chemical also has transport properties and is used in the production of polyurethane foams, polyesters, and acrylics. Diazonium salts are often used as precursors for other compounds such as phenols and anilines.
