(4,6-Dimethylpyrimidin-2-yl)cyanamide (DMP) is a cyanamide that has been shown to interact with histamine and produce electrophilic products. It is used as an intermediate in the production of methyl anthranilate, which is a precursor to sulfur mustard gas. DMP reacts with alkylating agents such as methyl anthranilate to form compounds that are electrophilic in nature. These compounds can then undergo an electrophilic attack, which results in the formation of new covalent bonds between the reactants.
