Descripción

2-(2,4-Dichlorophenyl)-1H-benzimidazole is an antioxidant that inhibits the activity of tyrosine kinases and topoisomerases. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of protein kinase C (PKC) and tyrosine phosphorylation. 2-(2,4-Dichlorophenyl)-1H-benzimidazole is used in food additives as a preservative or antioxidant and also as an insecticide. This compound can be synthesised from benzene and p-toluenesulfonic acid. The yields are high, with a dihedral angle of 180° and a pKa of 5.6. 2-(2,4-Dichlorophenyl)-1H-benzimidazole can be reused by adding water to the reaction mixture after the first use.
