2-(Dimethylamino)-2-methylpropan-1-ol is a colorless liquid that has a sharp odor and can be absorbed through the skin. It belongs to the alcohol group, which consists of organic compounds containing an -OH group attached to an alkyl chain. 2-(Dimethylamino)-2-methylpropan-1-ol is acidic and reacts with hydroxyl groups. It has been used as a test sample for metathesis reactions in environmental exposure studies, as well as for testing nitrogen atoms in crystalline structures. This compound has been shown to have excellent protonation properties and high energy efficiency.
