Descripción:2,2-Dimethyl-3-phenylpropanoic acid is a luteolytic agent that belongs to the group of phenylacetic acids. It has been shown to inhibit progesterone synthesis and induce regression of the estrous cycle in rats. 2,2-Dimethyl-3-phenylpropanoic acid is also able to bind with cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are involved in the metabolism of many drugs. This binding may lead to increased plasma concentrations of other drugs that are metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, such as erythromycin and methyldopa.
