Descripción:
The 2-thienyl moiety is a chelating group that binds to the central metal ion. This binding allows for the coordination of other ligands, such as nitrates and oxygen, which are more readily displaced from the complex by water molecules. The 2-thienyl moiety also has bioactivity against bacteria, fungi and parasites. The 2-thienyl ring is planar and can form metal complexes with metals in groups 1 to 4. Metal complexes of this type are used in chemotherapy drugs or antibiotics.
