- Brn 2113951
- Ccris 3033
2,6-Dinitrobenzaldehyde is a synthetic compound that has been used in the synthesis of other organic compounds and as a reagent for chemical studies. It is a white solid that is soluble in water and alcohols. The compound can be synthesized from 2,6-dichlorobenzaldehyde by nitration followed by reduction. 2,6-Dinitrobenzaldehyde is not radioactive. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of typhimurium at concentrations of 3mg/mL or higher, but not at lower concentrations. This inhibition may be due to its ability to react with the c-h bonds on proteins and nucleic acids. 2,6-Dinitrobenzaldehyde also inhibits the growth of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium ATCC 14028 at high concentrations (3 mg/mL) but not at lower concentrations (0.1 mg/mL).
