5-[2-(3,5-Dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl]-1H-pyrazol-3-amine is a hydrazine drug that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against certain bacteria. The synthetic process of this drug involves the reaction of 5-bromo-2-(methoxycarbonyl)phenylacetic acid with 2-(dimethylamino)ethanol in an organic solvent. This produces 3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 5-[2-(3,5-dimethylphenyl) ethyl]-1H-pyrazole. The cyclization of the pyrazole moiety occurs by reacting it with sulfuric acid and acetonitrile to form 5-[2-(3,5-dimethylphenyl) ethyl] pyrazolopyrimidine.
