Descripción:Dibromomethylbenzene is a reactive, non-metallic chemical compound with the formula CHBr2. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water and has a strong odor. Dibromomethylbenzene can be used to treat wastewater by removing metals, such as iron and copper, that are not removed by conventional methods. This compound also has been shown to inhibit the growth of infectious bacteria, such as Salmonella enterica and Escherichia coli. Dibromomethylbenzene reacts with metal hydroxides to produce volatile bromide ions, which react with the carbohydrate to form cyclic peptides. These reactions are catalyzed by solid catalysts like activated carbon or alumina.
