Dimethyl sulfoximide (DMSO) is a compound that has an inhibitory effect on cancer cells. It modulates the activity of proteins by bond cleavage and tyrosine kinase inhibition. DMSO has been shown to have a cytotoxic effect on cervical cancer cells. The pharmacokinetic properties of DMSO are similar to those of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The drug is absorbed rapidly through the skin and can cross the blood-brain barrier. It is metabolized in the liver, kidneys, and lungs and excreted in urine.
