2,4-Dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carbonitrile (DTPC) is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits DNA synthesis by binding to the dna duplexes. DTPC has also been shown to have anticancer activity against human liver cells and inhibitory effects on the growth of bacteria in acidic environments. This compound is activated by radiation and can be inactivated by hydrochloric acid or a low energy environment. The biological properties of this molecule are unknown.
