- 9,9-Dimethyl-9H-Fluorene-2,7-Diol
9,9-Dimethyl-9H-fluorene-2,7-diol is a fluorescent molecule that has been shown to have high quantum yields. The fluorescence emission spectrum is broad and can be tuned by changing the solvent polarity. 9,9-Dimethyl-9H-fluorene-2,7-diol is an organic compound that can be synthesized by condensing acetoacetate with ethyl acetoacetate in the presence of base. This reaction also produces 3,3'-dimethoxybenzidine as a side product. 9,9-Dimethyl-9H-fluorene-2,7-diol has been used as a reactive intermediate in the synthesis of other fluorophores such as 1-(4'-nitrobenzenesulfonyl)-1',3',5'-trimethylbenzene.
