The compound 3,4-Dihydropyrido[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-one is a demethylation inhibitor. It has been shown to be an efficient method for profiling histones and lysine residues in cells. The compound inhibits the binding of the enzyme DNA methyltransferase (DNMT) to its substrate, which is necessary for methylation of DNA. This inhibition leads to increased levels of methylated histones and lysine residues in cells.
