• Descripción: 5,7-Dihydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one is a natural product that has been found to have antibacterial activity. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of P. aeruginosa and Sulfoxide by disrupting the activity of bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. The structure of 5,7-Dihydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one is similar to the structures of oxyresveratrol and mulberrofuran, which are also naturally occurring molecules with antibacterial properties. 5,7-Dihydroxy 2H chromen 2 one functions by binding to the active site of bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby inactivating these enzymes. This prevents DNA replication and transcription, leading to cell death. This compound has not been shown to be toxic to human cells at concentrations up to 10 μM.
