This molecule can be synthesized by reacting ketones with nitriles or nitro groups in an acetonitrile solvent. The hydroxyl group at C1 can be replaced by an acetonitrile group to form a dihedral angle of 180° between the two molecules. This molecule also has hydrogen bonding interactions with other compounds.
