• Descripción: 3,5-Dimethylcyclohexanone is a colorless liquid with a fruity odor. It is used in the synthesis of perfumes and flavors. 3,5-Dimethylcyclohexanone has been shown to be an excellent substrate for the reduction of aluminium using hydrogen gas. This reaction produces hydrogen gas as a byproduct and reduces the concentration of 3,5-dimethylcyclohexanone. The stereoselective reduction of 3,5-dimethylcyclohexanone was also observed when it was mixed with organic solvent. The use of microextraction to isolate 3,5-dimethylcyclohexanone from other compounds in the sample was also investigated. The reduction products were analyzed by GC/MS and GC/FID techniques that are selective for different compounds.; 3,5-Dimethylcyclohexanone can be synthesized from isomeric formaldehyde or isopropyl alcohol with catalytic amounts
