Difurazon is an antibacterial agent that has been used in the treatment of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is a corrosion inhibitor that prevents the formation of rust on metal surfaces, and is also effective as a growth rate reducer for microbes. Difurazon has been shown to be effective at concentrations that are lower than those required for other antibiotics, and it does not inhibit the growth of most strains of Escherichia coli or Staphylococcus aureus.
