3,4-Diiodopyrazole is a nitrated pyrazole compound that has been shown to be an efficient, high stability, and regioselective iodination agent. 3,4-Diiodopyrazole can be prepared by the nitration of 3- or 4-methylpyrazoles with nitric acid in the presence of a stoichiometric amount of concentrated sulfuric acid.
