Descripción

Naphthol AS-B is a salt of 1-[(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)azo]-2-naphthol. It has been shown to be effective against bacterial strains that are resistant to most antibiotics and is active against Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis. Naphthol AS-B is an analog of naphthalene that contains a pyrazole ring in its structure. This compound can be used for the treatment of kidney bean poisoning, as it inhibits the conversion of tryptophan into indole. Naphthol AS-B has also been shown to have therapeutic effects on symptoms of physiological function, such as high blood pressure, by reducing the production of angiotensin II and the release of renin from the kidneys.
