Descripción

4,4-Dimethyl-2-imidazolidinethione is an antifungal agent that inhibits the growth of fungi by binding to their DNA. It has been shown to have bactericidal concentration and bactericidal properties against a number of bacteria, including pernicious bacteria. 4,4-Dimethyl-2-imidazolidinethione binds to magnesium oxide and prevents the formation of its active form. This drug also has inhibitory effects on bacterial cell wall synthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. 4,4-Dimethyl-2-imidazolidinethione also has synergistic effects with ceftriaxone against Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates that are resistant to other antibiotics such as rifampicin and pyrazinamide.
