Descripción:Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) is a drug that acts as a prodrug for the active metabolite monomethyl fumarate (MMF). It is used in the treatment of psoriasis and other skin diseases, including erythema nodosum leprosum. DMF has been shown to significantly up-regulate the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), which is a response element for pdgf-bb. DMF also has antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit reactive oxygen species production. This drug also inhibits the activity of certain enzymes and blocks drug transporters that are involved in bowel disease.
