3,5-Di-O-caffeoylquinic acid methyl ester (3,5-DCQME) is an antioxidant phenolic compound. 3,5-DCQME scavenges the hydroxyl radical and the peroxyl radical and has been shown to inhibit signal pathways in human leukemia cells. 3,5-DCQME inhibits neuronal death by inhibiting oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in rat brains. This compound also induces apoptosis in human leukemia cells by regulating the expression of Bax protein. 3,5-DCQME has been found to have significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells.
