4-[(3E,7E)-4,8-Dimethyl-10-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexen-1-yl)-3,7-decadien-1-yl]-5-hydroxy-2(5H)-furanone is a natural compound that belongs to the group of diphenyl ethers. It has been shown to have high affinity for the receptor activity in the papillary muscle and has been shown to be a specific agonist for this receptor. 4-[(3E,7E)-4,8-Dimethyl-10-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexen-1-yl)-3,7--decadien--1--yl]-5-[hydroxy] 2(5H) furanone is also able to inhibit protein synthesis in cultured cells.
