Descripción

Diflunisal is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits the activity of integrin receptors. Integrins are cell surface receptors that bind to extracellular matrix proteins and other ligands. The binding of integrin to these ligands induces signaling events that lead to changes in cell behavior, such as migration and proliferation. Diflunisal has been shown to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines by inhibiting the function of integrin receptors. Diflunisal has also been shown to be cytotoxic in vitro, with significant cytotoxicity against human epidermal cells. This drug may cause skin irritation or dermatitis when used topically because it can react with water vapor in the air, resulting in formation of toxic epidermal irritant products. Diflunisal is a white crystalline solid with a molecular weight of 338.29 g/mol and a melting point of 232°C (450°F). It is
