2,6-Dichlorophenol--13C6 is a lipophilic probe that has been used to detect the presence of fatty acids in cells. It is used in the analytical method of sephadex g-100 to identify receptor cells and measure their response to light exposure. The probe is conjugated with fatty acids which react with the hydroxyl group on sephadex g-100. 2,6-Dichlorophenol--13C6 has shown potential for use as an imaging agent for tumours and other metabolic disorders. This compound may also be useful in determining the redox potential of cells and tissues, as well as studying the reaction mechanism of lipids in biological membranes.
