N,N-Dimethylacetoacetamide is a reactive functional group that is used as a cross-linking agent in the production of polymeric materials. The imine form of this compound reacts with the carbonyl group of another molecule to form an active methylene. This process is commonly used in the production of plastics, adhesives, and coatings. N,N-Dimethylacetoacetamide has shown to be reactive with protein molecules and can be used as an inflammatory disease therapeutic or corrosion inhibitor. The chemical structure of this compound was analyzed using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy and found to have a deionized water solvent.
