Disperse Red 1 is a dye that is used in the textile industry. It has been shown to be genotoxic and can cause immune reactions. Disperse Red 1 is also used for wastewater treatment, due to its ability to absorb light and remove organic matter from water. Disperse Red 1 is a red-orange powder that can be added as a pigment to paint or ink, but it can also be used as an analytical reagent for gravimetric analysis and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The compound has been shown to inhibit cellular DNA synthesis and induce apoptosis in liver cells.
