Descripción:Desirudin is a recombinant human coagulation factor that has been used as an anticoagulant in patients with liver impairment. Desirudin is a single-chain polypeptide composed of the signal peptide and the active protein, which is cleaved from the pro-protein during translation. The activity of desirudin is dependent on intramolecular hydrogen bonding and it inhibits thrombin by binding to its active site. Desirudin has been shown to have a protective effect against experimental myocardial infarction in rats with congestive heart failure. This drug also has pharmacokinetic properties that are dependent on body mass index and glomerular filtration rate, which may affect its efficacy in patients with different conditions.
