Dibutyl phenyl phosphate is a carboxylate that has been shown to be an effective corrosion inhibitor. It is used as a polymerization initiator, and can also be found in paints, coatings, and other products. Dibutyl phenyl phosphate is synthesized from the reaction of a carboxylic acid with epichlorohydrin and phenol. This compound has been shown to have a high molecular weight that increases viscosity, which may help with environmental exposure. This product also has the capability of reacting with amines and esters.
