1,4-Dimethoxy-2,3-dimethylbenzene is a methoxylated compound with a molecular weight of 206.27 g/mol. The molecule consists of four rings fused together and contains two methyl groups attached to the aromatic ring. This compound has shown antitumor properties in cell culture and has been found to inhibit the growth of carcinoma cells through the inhibition of protein synthesis. Synthetic methods for 1,4-dimethoxy-2,3-dimethylbenzene have been developed using chloride as a nucleophile and acetonitrile as an electrophile. Reaction time can be varied by using different catalysts such as benzotrifluoride or an acid chloride.
