Descripción:1,2-Di-O-tetradecyl-sn-glycerol is a sialic acid that has been found to have immunosorbent properties. The compound is a potent inhibitor of protein synthesis in mammalian cells and has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on tumor cells. It can be used for the detection of glycoproteins on the surface of cells by immunofluorescent staining. The chemical structure of 1,2-di-O-tetradecyl-sn-glycerol is similar to diacylglycerols and phorbol esters, which are known to activate protein kinase C (PKC) and induce cellular responses.
