• Descripción: 3,3-Dimethylpyrrolidin-2-one is an uncatalyzed β-unsaturated ketone that has been shown to stimulate soluble guanylate cyclase in vitro. 3,3-Dimethylpyrrolidin-2-one can be used as a therapeutic agent for cardiovascular diseases and pulmonary hypertension. This compound also modulates the activity of guanylate cyclase by increasing cyclic GMP levels in the cardiovascular system and has been shown to have cardioprotective effects. In addition, this compound may be helpful in treating pulmonary hypertension by inhibiting phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) and blocking the conversion of nitric oxide (NO) to nitrate.
