N,N-Diphenylformamide (DPF) is a methyl ketone that is used for the preparation of organic compounds. It is soluble in trifluoroacetic acid and can be used to extract samples from solids. This compound has been shown to inhibit HIV infection by binding to the virus and preventing it from binding to CD4 receptors on the host cell surface. DPF also inhibits light-induced skin damage in mice by preventing activation of toll-like receptor 4, which causes an inflammatory response. DPF has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit reactive oxygen species.
