Descripción:2,6-Dimethyl-2,4,6-octatriene is a glycol ether that has been reported to have antimicrobial activity. It was shown to inhibit the growth of a wide range of microorganisms in vitro and in vivo. 2,6-Dimethyl-2,4,6-octatriene is not toxic to animals at low doses and is not irritating to skin or eyes. The compound has been shown to be effective against bacteria such as Escherichia coli and staphylococci and fungi such as Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. This chemical also exhibits cytotoxic activity against human tumor cells.
