Descripción:Decoquinate is a quinolone-based antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis by binding to the enzyme topoisomerase II. This drug also has synergistic effects with other antibiotics such as maduramicin ammonium and salinomycin sodium, which are used to treat infectious diseases. Decoquinate binds to the active site of the enzyme and forms covalent linkages with the protein, which prevents it from functioning properly. Chemical biology techniques can be used to identify new decoquinate derivatives that have improved activity against resistant mutants or for treatment of autoimmune diseases.
