Delmadinone is a pharmaceutical dosage form of the hormone delmadinone acetate, which is used in the treatment of osteoporosis and postmenopausal osteoporosis. Delmadinone acetate has been shown to inhibit bone resorption by binding to cells on the surface of bone, and also inhibits fatty acid synthesis by binding to receptors that regulate lipolysis. This drug has been shown to be clinically effective for diabetic neuropathy and may be useful for other conditions involving disorders of lipid metabolism.
