Descripción:Deflazacort is a synthetic glucocorticoid that is used in the treatment of Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy. It has been shown to be effective for the management of inflammatory conditions such as asthma, allergies, and other allergic reactions. Deflazacort binds to and activates glucocorticoid receptors in humans. The drug undergoes rapid metabolism with a terminal half-life of about 1 hour. Deflazacort is eliminated by both urinary excretion and hepatic metabolism. This drug has pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to prednisolone, although it has a longer duration of action due to its slow hepatic clearance.
