Rocuronium is a non-depolarizing muscle relaxant that belongs to the class of neuromuscular blocking drugs. It has been shown to be effective in patients with viral hepatitis and other viral diseases by inhibiting the replication of RNA viruses. Rocuronium is used as an adjuvant to surgery, especially hepatic surgeries. The drug binds to acetylcholine receptors on the motor end plate, leading to paralysis of skeletal muscle. This drug is not active against flaviviridae (e.g., hepatitis C virus).
