Descripción:Desmethoxy iopromide is a polymeric chemical compound that has hydrophilic properties. It is often used as a diagnostic agent and a radiocontrast agent because it reacts with water molecules to form high-molecular-weight hydrophilic polymers. These polymers can be detected by various chemical, physical, and optical methods. Desmethoxy iopromide is believed to react with the electron beam of an x-ray machine when exposed to ionizing radiation. The reaction produces small amounts of iodine gas which are detected by the machine and converted into an image on photographic film or a digital detector. Desmethoxy iopromide is also used in analytical chemistry for phase extraction and multicyclic reactions.
