Descripción:N-Desmethyl clozapine is a metabolite of the anti-psychotic drug clozapine. It has been shown to have similar effects to clozapine and can be used as an alternative treatment for chronic schizophrenia. The metabolite has been detected in human serum using a chromatographic method, which is an analytical technique that separates molecules based on their size and charge. N-Desmethyl clozapine was found to have a longer half-life than the parent compound, with a detection limit of 1 ng/mL in human serum. This metabolite also has been shown to inhibit fatty acid synthase activity and COX-1 activity in vitro, which may be responsible for its antipsychotic effects.
